This flagship project targets women and girls with the aim of reducing the acceptance of GBV and of breaking the silence around abuse. Nokaneng reaches out to them through a mobile smartphone App, a complementary SMS-based solution, and media productions such as radio soapie and videos.
This flagship project works with learners' representative councils and school staff in in the Gauteng region to establish a safe space to learn. Schools are recognised as an important entry point for the implementation of gender-based violence prevention interventaions, primarily focusing on strengthening Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights of the learners.
The Religious and Traditional Leaders flagship works with churches and traditional leaders to raise awareness around gender-based violence, and supports shaping the roles of religious and traditional actors for changing norms and attitudes around gender relations and gender-based violence.
This flagship project addresses the prevention of violence and discrimination against LGBTQIA+ persons in the institutions of higher learning of the Gauteng region, by raising awareness and understanding on sexual orientation and gender identity, diversity and LGBTQIA+ rights, as well as by capacitating tertiary institution communities (students and working staff) to create inclusive and safe environments that are respectful of the rights of LGBTQIA+ persons.
This flagship supports the Gender Division with re-structuring a ‘Clearing House’/Resource Hub at provincial and district level and with its re-institutionalisationsing at national level to coordinate messaging about GBV Prevention amongst actors, pooling resources, and maximizing effectiveness of interventions.
The flagship Sakeng works with men and boys to reflect around masculinity norms and its linkages with gender-based violence. Sakeng reaches men and boys through various means, such as engaging in ther fields of culture and arts, sports as well as the workplace.
This flagship aims at sensitizing and training both in-service and newly recruited police officers against GBV to restructure beliefs and strengthen confidence in the relationship between the police as first responders to GBV and the community.
The Food Security flagship aims at mainstreaming effective gender-based violence prevention and response measures in food security interventions, since food (in)security is a risk factor for gender-based violence and gender inequality and vice versa.
The flagship on Media Compact works with media and creative industry to improve gender-sensitive reporting, and to promote the implementation of a national compact with the Media and creative industries for a positive portrayal of gender relations and against gender violence.
The Religious and Traditional Leaders (RTL) flagship supports church leaders in making use of sermon guides that contain messaging discouraging GBV and child marriages. Through the initiative, PfP also provides technical support to RTL in their advocacy against harmful norms that underpin GBV.
This flagship promotes the production and dissemination of gender-sensitive stories to raise awareness on harmful norms and practices underpinning GBV. To this aim, PfP supported the creation of guidelines for community-based reporters on gender-sensitive reporting around GBV issues and the development of their capacities through trainings.
